UHP TROOPER COPE

Trooper Cope --UTAH HIGHWAY PATROL

Oh my goodness, I am so proud of him -- Kris is one of the BEST -- and he is soooo respected by his team and others in the state.    I just want to honor him today -  for he is a huge support to me in every way.  He has always taken care of his mother.  I will post something about my other kids too -- later.

KC always took interest in these:

As a little boy, he was fascinated with LifeFlight and we would often drive up to LDS Hospital just to watch them land.....such a happy kid when that happened.  When we were lucky he would get to talk to the pilot and those on board.  Next -- was his interest in fire engines and I think at the age of 16 he was a volunteer at the Bountiful Fire Station and a volunteer in the ER at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful.  Next was his advancement to being an EMT and then a head tech at the ER at IMC in Murray, volunteer police in West Bountiful.  He is now a UHP trooper, teaches drivers ed at high schools around the valley, and is a volunteer fire fighter in Tooele.  But his best calling of all is being a husband and father--- THE BEST EVER!

The night I was set apart to be a missonary - we gathered together in the Stake President's room:  Pres. Webster, one of his counselors, Bishop Nelson, KC, Megan, Navy and Jensen, Braden and Andrea, Christy and me.  It was a beautiful hour with my little family.  Pres. Webster asked each of my kids to bear their testimonies -- the memories of that evening with my family will always be written in my heart.  It was such a special time in my life.

I want to record a part of KC's testimony with his permission.

He loves being a highway patrol trooper and takes it very serious.  He is cautious, responsible, caring, firm, focused, knowledgeable etc.  In his testimony he spoke of this:
When ever he begins a shift he puts on all his protective clothing - one of them is his bullet proof vest.  Behind or underneath his vest, right next to his heart, he puts a copy of the Book of Mormon.  Inside his Book of Mormon are pictures of his family and his testimony and love for the book. So -- he has his protective vest and underneath is his second shield of protection and he never goes to work scared. He says that he doesn't have time to go to work in fear.  He works with peace caution and knows that the Savior is watching over him.

"Now the Nephites were taught to defend themselves against their enemies, even to the shedding of blood, if it were necessary; yea, and they were also taught never to give an offense, yea, and never to raise their sword except it were against an enemy, except it were to preserve their lives!"   Alma 48:14

KC's testimony was strong and powerful as he witnessed the Lord's blessings and protection in his work as a UHP Trooper. I had no idea that he had a custom to put a Book of Mormon behine his protective vest for extra protection - spiritual protection.  I always feel at peace when he goes to work. I feel the Lord's protection with him.

I love you Trooper Cope
