Dear Elders and Sisters:
One of the great promises provided to us as missionaries comes from the 33rd Section of the Doctrine and Covenants. First the Savior teaches us that he will gather his elect from the four quarters of the earth and gives each of us comfort that the elect will hearken unto His voice. He then reminds us that the field is white all ready to harvest and invites us to thrust in our sickles with all our might, mind and strength. In order for this blessing to be fulfilled, we must be in the field, mentally, physically and emotionally.
Then He provides this promise, "Open your mouths and they shall be filled... Open your mouths and you shall be laden with sheaves (blessings) upon your backs... Open your mouths and they shall be filled."(D&C 33:9-10)
Last week one of our missionaries (Sister Janson and Sister Cope) was at a pharmacy picking up medication. While she was waiting in line, she (Sister Janson) started a conversation with a gentlemen. He recognized her as a missionary and wanted to know more. This sweet sister opened her mouth and it was filled. She ultimately received his name, address and phone number. She passed the information along to another set of faithful missionaries. -- Kale Munoz He told that he has just moved here from Pennsylvania and was looking for a church.
These two great missionaries (Sister Orton and Hutchison) recognized the power of having members involved and invited their Bishop and his wife to attend the first lesson just a day or so later. It went very well. He was invited to the Broadcast yesterday by the Bishop and he came and thoroughly enjoyed the meeting. Last night they invited the Ward Mission Leader to attend the lesson at the Trail Center. This good brother was set for baptism on November 26th. At the conclusion of the lesson, they all knelt in prayer. This man prayed and thanked Heavenly Father for putting the first sister missionary (Sister Janson)
in his path at the pharmacy.
At the conclusion of this revelation, the Savior admonishes us to be faithful, praying always, having our lamps trimmed and burning with oil so that we may be ready when the Savior comes. May I suggest that all three of these good missionaries are faithful, they pray always and study effectively, both the scriptures and Preach My Gospel so they are ready when the Savior comes and opportunities to share the gospel are provided.
I am confident that at during this experience while in line at the pharmacy, in the Bishops home and with the Ward Mission Leader, the Savior came. His Spirit was felt and His promises that he will fill our mouths was fulfilled.
Thank you for being so faithful.
We love you and would love to hear of other miracles when the Lord has fulfilled this promise for you.
